Paula’s Picks: Acne Hacks, Luxe Lips & Absinthe Adventures

This is a blog post to accompany the Paula’s Picks podcast episode for March. Let’s hop right in.

WHAT I’M USING - Acne Hacks and Luxe Lips:

We're kicking things off with some new beauty favorites. First, let's dive into the Augustinus Bader Cleansing Balm, a hero product that leaves your skin CLEAN (most cleansers don’t, BTW) and feeling super fresh. I'll also spill the tea, quite literally, on spearmint tea as a natural remedy for acne. And, of course, I can't resist gushing about the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Gloss – a luxurious lip gloss that plumps the lips, boasts deep pigmentation, and makes your lips look irresistibly kissable.

WHERE I’M GOING - Absinthe Adventures at Bedroom Six:

It’s cold here in New York, so I'm not doing too much, but one of the most interesting nights out was at Bedroom Six – an exclusive absinthe tasting experience that was super Gen Z but really fun. I had no idea what to expect because they don’t even share the address with you until a few hours before the night begins, but we had some good laughs, met some fun people, and had an unexpectedly great time (and buzz!).

WHAT I’M WEARING - Closet Chronicles: Capsule Wardrobe Edition:

I did a massive closet cleanout and created a capsule wardrobe for myself, which has been a game-changer for my personal expression. Now that I can see all of the clothes I own, I am shopping my own closet rather than buying cheap one-time wear items. I love it and highly recommend it! Items from my closet I cannot stop wearing are silk cargo pants from Arias New York and a three-piece leisure suit from Zeagoo. I also recently got the Ferragamo studio bag and have not stopped using it. It’s chic, versatile, and can actually fit your cellphone (novel concept - I know).

WHAT I’M READING & LISTENING TO:

No rendition of Paula's Picks is complete without these recommendations! I recently read the American cult classic, “Valley of the Dolls,” and was truly captivated and also a bit shocked to see how we haven’t come so far as a society when it comes to women, age, beauty, and sexism. This is a thick book, but I really recommend it if you haven’t read it.

For those intrigued by gripping narratives, and cults, like me! I suggest the podcast "Trust Me: Cults, Extreme Belief, and Manipulation." The show's hosts were both raised in high control groups and interview those who are either in or have left cults. These stories and their stories will leave you at the edge of your seats. I love them, I love the way they tell stories, so if cults are your thing - this will be your jam.

Now that we’ve gone around the world and back again, yes, this month we really were all over the place. I leave you with my love and look forward to seeing you back for another round of Paula’s Picks in March. If there is anything you would like specific recommendations on, please DM me on @worldsyouroystapodcast.
